The Weeknd’s increasingly compelling Dawn FM era just added a fascinating collector’s item to its lore. Two days after releasing the music video for “Out of Time,” The Weeknd is auctioning the single on a vinyl that doubles as a functioning saw blade. In collaboration with art collective and app MSCHF, the uniquely designed piece is “a saw blade and record all in one.”

To sum up, per MSCHF, the record’s grooves are engraved into a copper band using direct metal mastering. The record is then placed in the center of a blood-red saw blade. The design also includes a vibration-halting design to benefit the item’s dual-use purpose. Additionally, the Vinyl Blade comes packaged in a custom cross-branded promotional sleeve and box, shown in the gallery above. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first quirky collaboration from MSCHF. The collective is best known as the makers of the infamous “Satan Shoes” in collaboration with Lil Nas X.
