Kevin Abstract continues his ventures into the fashion industry with the latest collection from his brand, Video Store Apparel. The FW 21 collection includes hoodies, fleece jackets, t-shirts, hats, sweatpants, underwear, and more.
In a statement about the clothing arm of VSA, Abstract said “It really makes me think of Napoleon Dynamite because you don’t really know what time period it is.” BROCKHAMPTON wardrobe stylist Nick Holiday photographed the full campaign.

The capsule follows a streetwear-focused aesthetic with colorful accents that complement the oversized relaxed silhouettes. Titled Our Good Dreams Go Into the Sky, the collection captures a nostalgic vision by applying queer themes to classic American tropes. Notably, there’s a “Gays Only Event” tee that is eerily reminiscent of the classic “Frankie Says Relax” shirts from the 1980s. Additionally, some pieces are dated with the year 2003 with colors and textures that are distinctly old-school.
Above all, the bright yellow Home Team hoodie is the highlight of the collection. The hoodie features both screen and puff printed graphics on the chest and back. Embroidered graphics reading “Boyfriend Warehouse” are stitched onto the hood. Further, Abstract notes that the paint isn’t stock and all colors are unique dyes. The collection is entirely handmade in Los Angeles. Pieces range in price from $15 USD for socks up to $155 USD for the VSA All-Over fleece jacket.

There’s a beautiful cohesion to this collection. Abstract and Holiday’s vision for VSA resembles the last video store. The pair looks to evoke the memory of those Friday night trips to Blockbuster, traversing the aisles for that perfect VHS or DVD. For the younger generation, Abstract hopes the collection will spark new memories.
