A$AP Rocky Launches Home Decor and Design Studio Hommemade

Starring a sculptural piece titled Shroom Cactus.

Multi-hyphenate creative and Harlem’s own A$AP Rocky is entering the interior design space with the launch of Hommemade. The design studio’s first foray into homeware features a sculptural piece dubbed Shroom Cactus in collaboration with Italian design studio Gufram.

Gufram was an important member of the Radical Design movement in Italy at a time when designers were eager to challenge functionalism and traditionalism. Similarly, A$AP Rocky aims to defy norms, inspire creativity, and push the envelope on home decor with Hommemade.

“Since I’ve always advocated for mushrooms it was only right that we made a cactus with them [Gufram],” said A$AP Rocky.

For Design Miami, the rapper put a psychedelic twist on Gufram’s Cactus, originally designed by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello in 1972. Overall, the full installation appears as a bright green utopian forest with the oversized Shroom Cactus at its center. Visitors at Design Miami could walk through the forest on a grass-like carpet with ceramic flowers scattered about. Above, a supernaturally staged blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds complete the immersive installation.

“I have constantly been looking for cross-contamination opportunities across various disciplines and feel like we reached an important goal in working with a phenomenal music artist like Rocky,” added Gufram’s global creative orchestrator Charley Vezza. “I would also say that developing this mushroom-based collaboration has been a good trip!”

No others details have been released pertaining to Hommemade at the time of publishing. Stay tuned for future developments. Additionally, you can keep up with Hommemade here.
