20th Century Studios has dropped off the trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water. The second installment in James Cameron’s franchise sees the return of the villain Colonel Quaritch, who is seemingly revived through a Na’vi avatar form and is once again at odds with Pandora native Neytiri.

Set more than a decade after the events of the original film, The Way of Water focuses on Neytiri, her partner James Sully, and their children. According to the official synopsis, the film chronicles “the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure as they fight for their home on Pandora.” The film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Edie Falco, Stephen Lang, and more. The trailer has no shortage of visually stunning oceanic footage and the landscape of Pandora.

Initial sources report the runtime of the film to be three hours and ten minutes. The Way of Water is the first of four Avatar sequels in James Cameron’s saga. The Seed Bearer scheduled to arrive in 2024, with a fourth and fifth film in 2026 and 2028 respectively.
