By Law, The Tesla Cybertruck Must Have Side Mirrors

But Tesla CEO Elon Musk says they’ll be “easy to remove.”

If you’re a fan of the Tesla Cybertruck, it’s likely because of its sleek, streamlined, and minimalistic design aesthetic. Well.. unfortunately if you’re not a fan of side mirrors. Turns out that the highly anticipated truck will in fact have protruding side mirrors after all, as confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

This change was first noticed after fans uploaded a video to YouTube showing a Cybertruck test drive in California. While the quality of the video is quite poor, you can clearly see side mirrors present on the upcoming truck. While some didn’t mind, other fans weren’t happy about the recent additions and took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction.

So Elon took to Twitter to state why they’ve been added on the vehicle. Apparently, “they’re required by law,” but he realizes that many would prefer to do without them, and so they’ve been “designed to be easy to remove by owners.” Of course, U.S. safety regulators require side mirrors when you’re driving on the road, so taking them off wouldn’t be in your best interest.
