Studio Ghibli recently took to social media to post a picture from a scene in Ghibil’s 1988 classic, My Neighbour Totoro, although the picture also includes characters from the Pixar universe.

The tweet featured the friendly giant Totoro standing under an umbrella in the rain, appearing to wait by a bus stop in the forest. This scene is a treasured scene by Studio Ghibli fans, it’s been featured on posters, it’s all over Tumblr and fans know exactly what it is when they see it. I the original poster we saw sisters Mei and Satsuki next to Totoro, however, this time around in the artwork posted by Studio Ghibli we see Michael “Mike” Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan from 2001 Pixar-produced CGI film, Monsters, Inc..

They shared the picture on Studio Ghilbli’s official Twitter account and featured no caption. Bringing the internet into a frenzy, wondering if the two legendary studio’s would collaborate on a film. If you aren’t aware, this isn’t the first time Studio Ghibli and Pixar crossed passed; Totoro also appeared in Pixar’s 2010 film, Toy Story 3. Directors Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter have been vocal about their mutual respect for each other, with their relationship dating all the way back to the 1980s.

We don’t have any news on an official film but as soon as we do we’ll be sure to update this post. We’re excited to see if something comes of this, for now all we can do is hope.
