As the summer month of August gets into full swing, Netflix has unveiled its comprehensive slate of new programming. The month is anchored by the highly anticipated return of one of the platform’s biggest hits, several major original film premieres, compelling new documentaries, and a treasure trove of beloved library titles.
Leading the charge for August is the premiere of Wednesday: Season 2 Part 1, which sees Jenna Ortega reprise her star making role as the gothic Addams Family daughter. The new season arrives on August 6, promising more mystery and mayhem at Nevermore Academy. On the original film front, the streamer is debuting The Thursday Murder Club on August 28, a star studded adaptation of the international bestselling novel. The film brings together Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie as a group of retirees who solve cold cases for fun until a real murder lands on their doorstep.

Documentary lovers have several major titles to look forward to. Executive producer Spike Lee and the team behind the acclaimed series When the Levees Broke return to mark the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with Katrina: Come Hell and High Water. Other notable documentaries include America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, which tells the story of the Dallas Cowboys, and Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser, an inside look at the hit reality competition show.
Alongside the original content, Netflix is adding a host of classic films to its library. Viewers can look forward to the Jurassic Park trilogy, several installments of the Fast & Furious franchise, and beloved comedies like Clueless, Dazed and Confused, and Wet Hot American Summer.

Of course, the arrival of new titles means that others must depart. August will be the last chance for subscribers to stream iconic films like The Breakfast Club, Field of Dreams, and Dunkirk. Popular television series such as Ballers, Gangs of London, and the first season of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live are also leaving the platform this month.
