The famed German Porsche specialist, RUF, has made a stunning declaration during the prestigious Monterey Car Week with the reveal of the Tribute, a modern supercar built around a completely new, in-house developed air-cooled engine. The project is a profound homage to the heritage of the Porsche 911 and a testament to RUF’s six-decade history of innovating on the iconic platform.

The heart of the Tribute is its most remarkable feature: a brand new 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged air-cooled flat-six engine, developed entirely by RUF. This is not a restored or modified classic motor; it is a ground-up creation that blends the unmistakable character of air-cooled engines with state of the art technology, including four-cam technology, variable cam timing, and variable valve lift. The result is an output of 550 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, with a redline of 6,750 rpm, all delivered to the rear wheels through a driver-focused seven-speed manual gearbox.

This masterpiece of engineering is housed within an advanced, lightweight carbon fiber chassis, continuing RUF’s tradition of using modern materials to enhance the classic driving experience. The company’s goal for the Tribute is to offer a raw yet refined drive, prioritizing tactility, agility, and the pure emotional engagement that has become a hallmark of the RUF name. “The rush of the air-cooled engine behind you adds something special to the modern RUF pantheon,” the company noted in a statement.
The Tribute was showcased in Monterey alongside the formidable 800 hp CTR3 EVO and the very first client-commissioned example of the off road RUF Rodeo. Together, the trio served as a powerful statement that in an increasingly digital and electrified world, the analog driving experience is not dead. The RUF Tribute is a fusion of the motoring past and the technology of the present, a supercar unlike any other.
