The Formula 1 grid is getting a massive injection of American engineering. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team just pulled the covers off its very first race livery, officially stepping up as the eleventh team in the sport. Instead of a standard garage launch, they went as big as possible. The squad debuted the car during a Super Bowl LX commercial break while simultaneously lighting up giant screens right here in New York City at Times Square.
The Final Lap: Has the Time Come for Sir Lewis Hamilton to Retire?
The new challenger is an absolute visual knockout. The design splits the chassis into opposing black and white sections. These stark colors are bridged by a gradient pattern made entirely of repeating Cadillac chevrons. The design crew built this specific motif to give the machine a sense of blistering speed even when it is parked on the tarmac. It is a completely unique aesthetic that will definitely stand out against established engineering giants like Mercedes Benz once the lights go out.
This launch proves the team wants to dominate the space where racing meets mainstream culture. Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings, proudly called the new aesthetic unmistakably American. General Motors President Mark Reuss also shared his excitement, noting that seeing the car is the reward for years of relentless effort to earn a spot on the grid. The wait is almost over. The stunning new Cadillac will make its competitive debut at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this March.
