Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) has made a stunning debut during Monterey Car Week 2025, launching its very first commission: the S1 LM. This ultra-exclusive, road-legal supercar is a direct tribute to Professor Gordon Murray’s landmark 1995 Le Mans victory, embodying his lifelong design philosophy of lightweight engineering and timeless beauty. Limited to a production run of just five units, all of which are already spoken for, the S1 LM is an instant collector’s item.
The heart of the S1 LM is a bespoke 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces more than 690 horsepower and revs to a staggering 12,100 rpm. This remarkable powerplant is paired with a manual gearbox derived from the track-focused T.50s and a custom Inconel exhaust system wrapped in 18-karat gold heat shielding. The combination is engineered to deliver extreme responsiveness and a distinct, race-bred sound that is unmistakably a Gordon Murray creation.
The Final Lap: Has the Time Come for Sir Lewis Hamilton to Retire?
The car’s exterior is a case study in functional beauty. It features a newly lowered roofline and full carbon fiber bodywork, sculpted with Le Mans-inspired aerodynamic elements including a prominent front splitter, a complex rear diffuser, and a dual-element rear wing. In line with Murray’s principles, the design prioritizes balance and proportion over the outlandish trends often seen in the hypercar world.
The focus on an unfiltered driving experience is central to the S1 LM’s design. The cockpit is anchored by Murray’s signature central driving position, creating a perfect connection between the driver and the machine. This is further enhanced by a minimalist interior architecture, lightweight materials, unique suspension geometry with bespoke dampers, and a solid-mounted engine that transmits every sensation directly to the driver. Professor Gordon Murray himself described the S1 LM as “timeless and beautiful,” a true piece of “engineering art.”
Built by the newly formed GMSV Bespoke division, the five exclusive S1 LM supercars are expected to begin deliveries to their owners in 2026.
