The Baba Yaga is officially heading to your favorite console. During the recent State of Play presentation Lionsgate and Saber Interactive revealed they are developing a massive AAA John Wick video game. Fans have been begging for a proper gaming adaptation for years and this announcement confirms the project is finally moving forward with serious heavyweight backing. Most importantly Keanu Reeves is heavily involved bringing both his voice and his iconic likeness to the interactive medium.

Saber Interactive is building this untitled project as a purely single player third person action experience. To ensure the combat feels entirely authentic the development team is working directly alongside franchise director Chad Stahelski. Together they are crafting a gameplay system that faithfully translates the legendary gun fu fighting style the movie series is famous for. The studio is also promising intense driving sequences and dynamic camera work designed to make the experience feel exactly like a blockbuster film.

Instead of simply retelling the movies the developers are giving fans a brand new prequel storyline. The narrative takes place right before the infamous Impossible Task which is the legendary mission that originally allowed Wick to retire from the High Table. This timeline gives the team the perfect opportunity to explore the criminal underworld while Wick was operating at his absolute prime. Players will cross paths with familiar faces from the established lore alongside a completely fresh cast of characters created specifically for this release.

The upcoming title is currently in active development for the PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X and PC. While there is no official release date or pricing just yet eager fans can already add the game to their wishlists on digital storefronts.
