Sony Introduces Customizable “Project Leonardo” Controller Kit

Focusing on accessibility.

Sony Entertainment has officially unveiled a highly customizable PlayStation 5 controller kit known as Project Leonardo. Announced at CES, the device focuses on accessibility, allowing those with disabilities to play games more easily, comfortably, and for longer periods.

The Meta Quest Pro is the Most Advanced VR Headset to Date

Project Leonardo features a split symmetric design where users can program the “north” position on the analog sticks in a number of orientations. This addresses issues like fatigue in holding controllers, button pressing accuracy, and thumb position. Additionally, users can secure the kit to AMPS mounts and expand the device via four 3.5mm AUX ports. Designer at Sony Interactive Entertainment So Morimoto further detailed the controller’s versatility.

“Because players can customize Project Leonardo according to their needs, there is no one ‘right’ form factor. We want to empower them to create their own configurations. The controller can also flexibly accept combinations of accessibility accessories to create a unique aesthetic. I am excited that the design will be completed through collaboration with players rather than presenting them with a single form factor.”
