Following a fallout with Nike, Curry joined the Under Armour brand in 2013 for close to $4 million per year, a figure that had already quintupled with his current contract which is set to expire in 2024. The lifetime extension comes despite some previous friction between the two-time NBA MVP and Under Armour founder Kevin Plank. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Curry admitted “There wasn’t quite an understanding of what it took to run a business like that properly,” regarding the company’s commitment to his signature shoe in the early stages. The four-time champion also hinted there were some discussions about leaving the brand in 2018. That all changed when Under Armour agreed to separate the Curry Brand in a style similar to Nike’s Jordan Brand.

A lucrative Under Armour extension adds to Curry’s on-court earnings which have already topped $254.7 million. His latest contract with Golden State will pay $215.4 million over the next four years. Curry and the Warriors kick off their title defense for the 2022-23 season on October 18 against the Lakers.
