Ferrari Reveals its First Four-Door Vehicle with the Purosangue

Don't call it an SUV.

For 75 years, Ferrari has produced legendary high-performance automobiles with a relentless focus on crafting exquisite race cars, supercars, and hypercars. Interestingly enough, the Italian automaker has never featured a four-door vehicle in its commercial lineup – until now. The Ferrari Purosangue, which means “thoroughbred” in Italian, resembles a crossover SUV – a term Ferrari refuses to associate with the car. Ferrari best describes the Purosangue as a new piece in their sports car lineup that prioritizes comfort and versatility.

Under the hood, the Ferrari Purosangue contrasts its engineering with that of typical SUVs, boasting a 715-horsepower, 6.5-liter V12 engine. Naturally, the Purosangue is one of the fastest SUV-style cars ever crafted, with a top speed of 193 mph. The vehicle still very much provides the full Ferrari experience, accelerating to 60 mph in just three seconds. The engine rests further back behind the front wheels than in similar vehicles to create a better weight balance. An “active suspension system” helps keep the car’s body under control during fast, hard cornering. Further, a carbon-fiber roof reduces weight near the top of the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, a passenger screen “provides all the information required to help them participate in the driving experience.” To ensure all travelers remain in utmost comfort, the Purosangue features four full-sized and fully adjustable seats for the first time in any Ferrari model. While both front and back seats are warming, the front seats also have a massage function. Despite the Purosangue’s unconventional height for a Ferrari, the seats are close to the floor to maintain the brand’s traditional low-slung driving experience. Additional interior aesthetic details include a glass cupholder and an optional full-length glass roof.

According to Ferrari, the first Purosangues will arrive in the U.S. near the end of 2023. You can read more about the Purosangue over on Ferrari’s website.
