Jaylen Brown and Aaron Donald Sign with Kanye West’s Donda Sports

Marking the first professional signings for Ye's newfound marketing agency.

Donda Sports, the marketing agency led by the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has signed its first two stars. Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams.

Jaylen Brown was chosen “because of his intelligence, social activism, and charitable work,” along with “his success on the court.” Additionally, Ye appreciated the fact that Brown is “a God-fearing man” whose mother “emphasized the importance of education at a young age, just like Donda.” According to reports, the two reached a deal after Ye attended a Celtics game back in March. This makes Brown the first NBA player to join Donda Sports. Further, people close to the signing say Ye thinks Jaylen Brown is underappreciated. He’s expressed a desire to elevate Brown “to ‘superhero’ status during his career and long after his playing days.”

Naomi Osaka to Launch Her Own Athlete Management Agency

Brown’s signing follows news that Los Angeles Rams star defensive tackle Aaron Donald signed with the agency as well. Donald, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, confirmed the deal over the weekend in an episode of I Am Athlete. The deals will not affect either player’s representation on the field or court, just their marketing ventures. It was previously announced that fellow NFL veteran Antonio Brown would serve as President of Donda Sports. AB shared his thoughts on Ye’s marketing agency in a recent interview.

“We’re just excited about the Donda Sports brand, and making this thing a competitive sports brand to the athletes. I don’t think there are a lot of fashion lines for athletes, wearing fashionable and comfortable clothes. So with a guy like Kanye West, being able to partner with him and work with him to provide more creative, genius ideas for fashion looks for athletes in general… I’m just grateful for the opportunity here soon, to share what we’ve got with the world. And you guys are hearing it first. We’ve got some exciting things to look forward to this year.”

The agency is off to a fantastic start with these two high-profile signings. Aaron Donald, a future Hall of Famer, is coming off a Super Bowl title with the Rams. As for Jaylen Brown, his quest for a championship continues when the Celtics take on the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Before that series tips off, take a minute to check out our NBA Finals Preview.
