HBO Confirms Return of ‘Westworld’ with Season 4 Teaser

Revealing a June release date for the science-fiction series.

Initially released as an Easter egg for fans, HBO has finally dropped a trailer for the upcoming season of Westworld. Set to the tune of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” the teaser ironically hints at a not-so-perfect ordeal for its cast of existentially challenged humans and androids.

Season 4 of Westworld appears to pick up right where Season 3 left off. After destroying the Rehoboam quantum computer, the Man in Black shows up to cause more chaos when everything finally seemed calm. The trailer offers glimpses at what characters played by Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, and Aaron Paul will be up to in the upcoming season. HBO describes Season 4 as “a dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on Earth.”

There isn’t any dialogue in the teaser, instead depicting a series of oblique, heady sci-fi images. This includes a dystopian version of New York City, smoke-emitting contraptions, waltzing in the streets, and lots of flies. Further, the trailer’s cryptic title “It doesn’t look like anything to me” is a call back to the android’s first interactions with reveries early on in the series.

The upcoming season will feature 8 episodes, the first of which premieres on HBO and HBOMax on June 26th. Check out the trailer for Season 4 of Westworld in the player above. As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
