The partnership now gets an official showcase via an ’80s fitness-inspired lookbook shot by Carlijn Jacobs.

Merging a popular sportswear giant with one of the world’s most recognizable luxury labels is nothing new. Just look at the Pradidas capsule or any number of Louis Vuitton x Nike collabs. So how do adidas and Gucci keep their capsule fresh and invigorating? With extensive uniforms that any luxe sportswear aficionado would covet.
Alessandro Michele serves as the designer for both the collection and the overall campaign. Michele drew from archival catalogs as models pose dramatically against pops of color akin to an ’80s infomercial. It’s the perfect vibe considering many of the pieces feature materials that harken back to that energetic era – velvet, suede, snakeskin, leathers, bold prints, and jazzy fonts. Further, the collection features co-branded micro bags, monogrammed pleated skirts, essential T-shirts, terry cotton pool slides, a selection of jewelry, and much more.
This adidas x Gucci collab successfully blends two seemingly far apart worlds to reach a happy medium. This hybridization of formalwear is fully apparent as leather heels, suede loafers, and silk scarves are dressed in more casual sportswear codes. Shellsuit-style offerings combine bold colors with an even bolder GG-Trefoil monogram. Yes, this collection screams for the ’70s and ’80s in all the best ways.

The adidas x Gucci collection launches worldwide on June 7th at select Gucci stores and pop-ups.
