Formula 1 Previews Las Vegas Night Circuit for 2023

Winding its way around the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip.

For the first time since 1982, Formula 1 returns to Sin City. The international racing league has unveiled a brand new night course for the 2023 Las Vegas Prix.

The track layout reveals a mere 14 turns and three main straights, including a 2km stretch down the Las Vegas Strip. Drivers will race past the city’s iconic landmarks such as Caesars Palace, the Bellagio, and the Venetian. They’ll jockey for position around the 12-15m wide streets under the bright lights of Las Vegas. It appears the end of the main stretch will allow the best opportunity for overtaking as drivers brake hard into a left-hander. Additionally, a 180-degree corner at Turn 1 may prove to be the biggest challenge for drivers.

“Average speeds around the track are set to be comparable to Forumla 1’s original Temple of Speed – Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza,” Formula wrote in the announcement.

The Las Vegas Prix will take place on Thanksgiving weekend of 2023. Formula 1 has two other races currently scheduled in the United States – a legacy race in Austin and a new Miami race debuting in May.
