Cactus Plant Flea Market is never afraid to challenge the status quo when it comes to footwear collabs with Nike. From throwing Swarovski crystals on Dunk lows to adding Air More Uptempo-style lettering to Air Force 1s, the brand does not shy away from crafting polarizing sneakers. Their latest offering comes in the form of another Dunk low, this time with a more adventurous feel.
For Peets Sake – Keep Doing What You Doing, Don’t Worry, Album Review
CPFM’s founder Cynthia Lu reinvents Nike’s classic silhouette with earthy tones and materials amidst a deluge of detail. Upon first look, one might not even suspect this is a Dunk at all. Gone are the iconic smooth leather uppers we’re accustomed to seeing on the base layer. Taking their place is triangular-shaped quilting in a beige hue. Suede tan overlays are offset by oversized white Swooshes on the lateral side. Additionally, the midsoles and treading are designed with cement-like molds that add greater dimension to the sneakers. The mossy green texture is one of many highlights in this nature-inspired rendition.
Now let’s take a look at the mismatched details. The left shoe features muted green wide laces and Nike branding on the tongue, while the right shoe opts for brown shoestrings with CPFM branding on the tongue. The sneakers are further juxtaposed with a burgundy collar on the left shoe and a green collar on the right. Additional details include a yin and yang logo towards the right lateral heel and small green Swooshes on the inside heel tabs.
