Razer’s Project Sophia Concept is the First True Gaming Desk

Complete with an advanced gaming chair with haptic feedback.

Next-generation gaming continues to advance in stunning ways. Tech company Razer recently unveiled a revolutionary gaming desk concept titled Project Sophia at CES 2022.

Gone are your conventional PC towers and super-powered dual monitor displays. The futuristic desk features a 65-inch or 77-inch OLED display with built-in RGB Chroma lighting. Also included is an Intel processor and Nvidia GPU that attach magnetically underneath the glass-topped desk. The piece is also fully modular and completely customizable, supporting up to 13 interchangeable modules. This allows each section to be configured with task-specific components including secondary screens, touch-screen hotkeys, audio mixer units, or external capture cards.

In a statement from VP of Growth at Razer, Richard Hashim described Project Sophia as “our futuristic vision of a multi-purpose gaming and workstation setup.” The desk is intended to meet the very different needs of PC users and negate the movement between workspaces. Further, “the hot-swappable modular system allows users to quickly reconfigure their desk with near-infinite flexibility.” Project Sophia adapts not just for individual tasks but also user preference. Razer has officially introduced us to the “future of the battle station.”

Additionally, Razer debuted the Enki Pro HyperSense gaming chair. The chair uses motors to provide over 65,000 haptic feedback variations. For a truly immersive experience, users can apply these variations to games, movies, and music. At its extreme, the chair can move 1.5 inches vertically and tilt backward.

As of writing, Project Sophia will not become available for purchase anytime soon. However, the Enki Pro HyperSense chair will be available to buy, though Razer has not revealed a release date.
