Kendrick Lamar & ‘South Park’ Creators to Co-Produce Comedy Film

Lamar and pgLang co-founder Dave Free are partnering with Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

Grammy-award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar and creative visionary Dave Free have found their next project.

A report from Deadline confirmed that the pgLang co-founders are joining forces with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone on an untitled, live-action comedy movie for Paramount Pictures. Standup comedian and South Park writer/voice actor Vernon Chatman will pen the script. The press release detailed the following synopsis:

“The film will depict the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”

Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free are producing under pgLang, while Stone and Parker are under Park County. Production is set to begin this spring, though at this time Paramount has yet to announce a director. The press release also confirms that the film will have both a theatrical release and stream on Paramount+.

‘Dune: Part 2’ Receives Official Release Date

This marks pgLang’s first venture into the realm of film and television. The at-service creative company previously directed a campaign for Calvin Klein and several music videos.
