Interscope Records Previews Unique LACMA Exhibition

50 New Artworks Inspired by Seminal Album Covers to Honor the Label's 30th Anniversary.

"Kendrick Lamar Good Kid m.A.A.d City" by Rashid Johnson

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Interscope Records, prominent visual artists will reimagine classic album covers with new original artwork.

The exhibition, titled “Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined”, brings together 50 new works made by artists including Kehinde Wiley, Takashi Murakami, Damien Hurst, KAWS, Julie Curtiss, and more. Each artist revisits one of the influential musicians or albums that Interscope has produced over the last three decades. Rashid Johnson offers his take on Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid m.A.A.d City, Loie Hollowell reimagines Lady Gaga’s Fame Monster, and Nina Chanel Abney takes on Tupac’s The Don Killuminati, to name a few.

Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine also had this to say.

“Interscope’s original mission was to find the most profound artists, empower their creativity and watch what happens. For the 30th, we wanted to continue that vision by assembling the most admired visual artists and empower them with that same creative license to honor the musical artists we have worked with over three decades.”

“Interscope Reimagined” will show at LACMA from January 30th to February 13th. Additionally, fans will be able to purchase their favorite gallery piece as a limited edition vinyl through NTWRK.
