When it comes to footwear. We wouldn’t necessarily say they’re the most sustainable item on the market, but it seems Nike looks to change that. Nike has been working on a sustainable line of sneakers featuring some of their most popular silhouettes. These come just after the Dunk Low “White/Black” that released in October as part of its Next Nature initiative. Today we get the “University Red” colorway perfect for those who weren’t able to get the first release.
The Wind House by Mobius Architects is a Fortress Within Nature
“University Red” is a popular colorway always. It starts with lush red and white panels, however, due to the fact that these are part of the Next Nature program; the shoe is comprised of sustainable materials. Which means at least 20% is of recycled and upcycled materials.
You’ll find eco-friendly takes all over the sneaker. Most notably on the sole unit which is made from Grind rubber — Nike’s circular approach to making sole units from old rubber from used, unwanted sneakers. These Dunks also have “Volt” insoles which feature Nike’s Move to Zero logo.
You can look at the Dunk Low Next Nature “University Red” in the gallery above, and expect it to drop on Nike’s website on January 22 for $105 USD. Lastly, for more sneaker news, Here’s a Look at the Union LA x Nike Dunk Low Blue.
