Adidas is Rereleasing Kobe’s Iconic Crazy 97 EQT in 2022

Kobe Bryant's Dunk Contest sneakers are returning next year.

In 1997, Kobe Bryant made history by becoming the youngest winner of the Slam Dunk Contest. Early next year, adidas will be re-releasing the kicks that propelled him to victory – the Crazy 97 EQT.

Before Nike signed Kobe as a brand ambassador in 2003, he signed a deal with adidas back in 1996. Originally dubbed the “Elevation,” this model was one of the first he wore during his rookie season with the Lakers. On the 25th anniversary of his Dunk Contest victory, the shoes return as the Crazy 97 EQT “Dunk Contest”.

Nike Set To Release New Nike Dunk Low “Cider” Colorway

This Crazy 97 EQT will appear identical to Kobe’s 1997 Dunk Contest pair. The upper is an all-purple makeup made from soft leather. The shoe also displays black mesh panels and signature three white stripes on the side. Gold accented branding gives the shoe just the right amount of flair. The model features Foot You Wear technology on the tooling, a design that mimics the natural curves and shapes of your feet. This actually helps prevent ankle rolls and provides better overall stability by keeping your foot closer to the ground.

Adidas has yet to announce any release details for the Crazy 97 EQT, but they’re expected to drop sometime around NBA All-Star Weekend in February. Lastly, Nike To Release a Sustainable Iteration of its “University Red” Dunk Low.
