There’s a lot to love regarding Alfie Templeman‘s latest project. One specifically is just how fun it is. ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ is short album but comes plentiful with energy and dynamics.

With Four EP’s to his name, thus solidifying his efforts. For his latest offering, Alfie pulls inspiration from jazz legends music such as Davis and McLaughlin. While tuning elements from modern artists to create a sound all his own. Templeman is great at merging multiple genres together. You clearly can hear Indie pop serving as the core, but you’ll quickly notice the jazz and funk influences that lay beneath. Although there are moments that seem dim, Templeman’s talent shines brightly throughout the record.

Leifer Releases His Latest Visual For “You (Everything I Do)”

The album opens up on high note with a track that features an incredible groove, dubbed, ‘Shady’ produced by Tom McFarland. Cuts such as ‘Jungle’, feature a bountiful array of guitar-laden segments with a chorus that will encapsulate the listener with its infectiousness. We weren’t a fan of the sequencing per se, although a good takeaway is this. Something we can assure any listener that the remaining seven tracks won’t leave them disappointed. Standout records are songs that can touch the heart. Here Alfie doesn’t falter with ‘Wait, I Lied’.  As Templeman finds solace in his feelings, he croons emotionally:

“I kept us moving at the beat of my heart, your voice was soothing, how did we fall apart…”

With deep, heavy-hitting drums matched with oddly tuned guitar licks. Then you pair that with Templeman’s dynamic vocals and what you get is a recipe worth its take. The combination is nothing short of extraordinary.

Listening to records such as ‘Film Scene Daydream’ sound exactly as it reads. It’s an essential summer, dreamlike, hazy escape. Featuring solar-saturated guitar accents with soothing backing vocals. Each song offers great energy anchored by eighties themed sensibilities. Although it’s considered a mini-album ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ is a body of work perfectly timed and well tuned. We’re hearing is a musician coming into his own.
