Big Sean stated that his upcoming album Detroit 2 will be a followup to his 2012 mixtape. Set to release via GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings by the end of the year. The nearly three-minute trailer featured a snippet for the song “Don Life,” and today he’s returned with a new music video for the song (but not the song in its entirety) as Lil Wayne‘s guest verse is left off at the end.
The Jerry Production direct video is completely in black and white. The video features a cameo from fellow Detroit artist Sada Baby. Hit-Boy and Young Thug also contribute to the album. While they featured Kanye West vocal loops on the previous trailer. Earlier this week, Big Sean dropped “Deep Reverence”, a collaboration with the late Nipsey Hussle which we featured on the WAVEFM playlist. If you follow it, if not it’s available on Spotify and Apple Music.

“8 years ago I did this wit the 1st Detroit mixtape where I previewed a few song wit short visuals, so it’s only right we run it back,” Big Sean wrote on Twitter when he debuted the song. He also added additional details to give more insight into the creative process while working on the album. “I’ve been going back listening to music that impacted me growing up, you know, songs I hear on the radio every day but I didn’t even realize was only popping in Detroit. It feels like a whole new energy in the city, you know? It’s inspiring to watch — to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It’s like the phoenix rising out the ashes.”
