Congratulations to Knicks fans everywhere. At long last, a playoff win.
After a devastating loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, the Knicks desperately needed to even the series. They trailed 70-58 in the third quarter before going on a 16-2 run. Derrick Rose came through with 26 points off the bench to lead the Knicks to the win, 101-92. Julius Randle and Reggie Bullock each pitched in 15 points and played solid defense. Just like that, 15,000 screaming Knicks fans sent home overjoyed – along with every other fan in NYC.

Knick fans amped up the energy in MSG, casting Hawks point guard Trae Young as the villain in this future 30 for 30 scene. Young put up 30 points and 7 assists in the loss – just his 2nd career playoff game. Being that this was in the Garden, fans bombarded him with “F*ck Trae Young” chants throughout the game. Young responded “I’ll see you in the A” as he walked off the court following the loss.
But do Knicks fans really care about Trae Young? No, not really. He’s just a minor pitstop along the way. To Knicks fans, it’s only a matter of time before they’ve discarded him and are on to the real team. That’s right. Knicks fans want the Brooklyn Nets.
There’s no shortage of confidence with Knicks fans and honestly, they deserve to live it up. It’s been a rough stretch and James Dolan is literally the worst owner in sports. Talk your shit, Knicks fans. If this is you after winning a single game, I can’t imagine the chaotic energy that’ll be coming if you win the series.
