SUV’s use to get their chops from purely their off-road capabilities and functionality. Over the years luxury became a trend and owners wanted a far more comfortable experience during their commutes. No one does opulence better than Mercedes-Benz and their partners at Maybach. To showcase this, they’ve unveiled their entry into the luxury SUV space with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC.
This is the first SUV in the paired-name’s history, so what you can expect is decadence. The engineering and luxry of Mercedes-Benz and the pure refinement and lavishness from Maybach. Let’s start with the Executive Rear Seating System, it’s functionalities extend far beyond just heating and cooled seats. They complement full reclining backs and footrests with fold out tables — similar to what you’d see in an airliner. There’s also separate air conditioning units to give each rider their own level of climate comfort and temperature control. The rear seats also feature massagers with six massage programs in total. Furthermore, the seats combine both the heat units and massagers to provide two “hot stone” modes for next level comfort. If that wasn’t enough for you. There’s also a refrigerator box in the rear as well, with magnetically secured champagne flutes and cup holders. That can also be chilled or heated with a button press.

As far as performance goes, the GLS 600 comes with it. Sporting a 4.0L biturbo V8 which they pair with a 48-volt on-board electrical system, resulting in 550hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. The paired hybrid system offers systems like EQ Boost, which allows for 21 additional horsepower and 184 lb-ft additional torque, as well as a complemented fuel rating and energy recovery. 0-60 achieved in 4.8 seconds, and since the GLS 600 isn’t a sports car, they achieve the number with a flat acceleration curve that Mercedes-Maybach calls “chauffeur mode” via its DYNAMIC DRIVE selections. Other standout features include fewer gearshifts for a smoother ride, a transmission that starts off in second gear for a less jerky start, even vibration optimizations with the executive seats.
