Los Angeles alt-punk outfit Militarie Gun have officially announced their forthcoming new album, God Save the Gun, which is set to be released on October 17 via Loma Vista Recordings. To mark the occasion, the band has shared the project’s explosive second single, a new track titled “B A D I D E A.”
The new song is a buzzing, high-octane punk cut that showcases the band’s signature sound. It is driven by a pummeling bass line and snapping snare drums, layered with razor-sharp guitar melodies. The track is anchored by a commanding, “balls-to-the-wall” vocal performance from the band’s primary songwriter and frontman, Ian Shelton. The song’s unique, spaced-out title is a direct nod to its infectious, spelled-out chorus.

Accompanying the single is a new music video, which was also directed by Shelton. He explained that the video’s concept is a direct reflection of the song’s chaotic energy. “I wanted to make a video that was a celebration of vices, a new iteration of yourself looking back at a moment you made a mistake while never truly reflecting,” Shelton said in a statement. “This was the most technically challenging video we’ve ever done and it only fits a song spelling out the words ‘bad idea.’”
“B A D I D E A” is the second track to be released from God Save the Gun, following the single “Thought You Were Waving,” which dropped last summer. The new album is now available for pre-order now.
