Carhartt WIP and New Balance have shared campaign images of their first collaborative collection, comprised of footwear, apparel, and more. Leading off is Carhartt’s take on the New Balance 990v1 which was accidentally leaked earlier this year, then quickly scrubbed from the internet. Now, the partners give the sneaker the official introduction it deserves.
Cherry Los Angeles and Dover Street Market Link for a Nostalgic Collection
The first collaboration between New Balance and Carhartt is inspired by the “sculpture center,” referencing humble neighborhood gyms that can be found across the country. Carhartt’s take on the first silhouette in the 990 line features a mesh and suede construction with a classic navy color scheme. The 990v1 includes accent hits of light brown and grey, drawing from the muted tones of traditional gym wear. Further, the sneaker receives a bit of flair via co-branded tongues and small reflective elements throughout. Original details such as the large heel clip, EVA foam midsole, and Vibram outsole appear as well.
Alongside the shoes, the collection sees an updated take on Carhartt’s Arcan jacket with a snap-on hood in navy. Additionally, a selection of garment-dyed jersey cotton pieces and graphic tees follow a similar color scheme. To complete the gym-inspired aesthetic, the collection adds a Nalgene water bottle, beanies, and towels.
The Carhartt WIP x New Balance 990v1, as well as the matching apparel, will arrive via New Balance and Carhartt WIP on September 16. While we wait, take a second to check out the official campaign images in the gallery above.
