Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to share some big news.  Their long-awaited debut project as Silk Sonic will be released on November 12.  The album also features famed bassist from Parliament-Funkadelic Bootsy Collins serving as “special guest host.”

Initially, Mars and .Paak announced Silk Sonic back in February in a series of posts claiming “We locked in and made an album.”  Their hit single “Leave the Door Open” released in early March and spent multiple weeks atop the Billboard charts.  The 1970’s inspiration was apparent from the jump.  Sonically, the track is extravagant and sexy, serving as the band’s “mission statement” according to .Paak.  The superduo performed the song at the Grammys and released their second single “Skate” in July.

Bruno Mars hinted at an early-2022 release date for the album in an August interview with Rolling Stone.  “I don’t want to be binge-watched,” Mars said at the time, expressing his desire to let each single breathe.

“We’re really in touch-up mode now.  We’ve got the bones of most of the album, so it’s really about touching up parts that need a little more… grease.”

The release will mark the first studio album from Mars since 24K Magic in 2016.  If the singles are any indication, An Evening With Silk Sonic could be a certified classic in the making.
