A legendary piece of Fast & Furious history has just sold at auction for a staggering price. The 1992 Mazda RX-7, famously driven by Han Lue in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, crossed the block in the UK for $1,221,477 USD, setting a new world record for any Mazda road car sold at auction.
This vehicle is one of only two surviving screen used RX-7s from the film’s production. Commissioned by Universal Studios and built by the famed Japanese company Veilside Co. Ltd, this specific car was used for close up and static scenes, which helped preserve its pristine condition. Unlike the stunt cars, this chassis never drifted a corner, but it was essential in cementing the on screen mystique of its cool-headed driver.

The car’s unforgettable appearance comes from Veilside’s radical “Fortune” wide body kit, which transformed the RX-7’s silhouette and added over 200mm to its width. It is finished in its signature pearlescent orange and gloss black paint and rolls on 19 inch Andrew Racing wheels. Under the hood, the 280 hp twin rotor engine was rebuilt by the renowned tuner RE-Amemiya.
Inside, the car features Veilside bucket seats, carbon fiber trim, a full Alpine audio system, and a decorative NOS bottle in the rear. Original production markings, including “#71 HANS” tags, remain intact. Having been purchased by its previous UK based owner in 2008, the RX-7 has been meticulously stored and is now fully road legal, standing as one of the most recognizable and best preserved movie cars of the modern era.
