Nestled on the edge of the Evoian Sea, The Grid House by Neiheiser Argyros displays the duality of repetition and difference. This simple concrete structural grid design creates a variety of interior and exterior spaces with dreamy views in Euboea, Greece.

The Grid House appears fairly modest at the entry, though the property opens its full space to the sea. To take advantage of the beautiful Mediterranean climate, the grid design is left open for exterior-covered patios, balconies, and pergolas. The landscape wraps around the house, cascading in terraces down towards the sea.
Neiheiser Argyros used an array of materials following a full gut renovation of a modernist house originally designed by Greek architect Nikos Hadjimichalis in the 1970s. Certain places use brick to create enclosure and privacy. Meanwhile, other moments contain full-height wood-framed windows facing the garden and sea. Additionally, playful additions include a pink metal stair balustrade, custom furniture, distinctive wood millwork, and galvanized metal grating. While the original design masked the underlying structural grid, The Grid House renovation reveals and celebrates the grid by emphasizing the variations in spaces and views on the property.
