New Balance continues to raise its profile in 2022 through collaborative efforts. This year alone, the footwear brand has worked with Aimé Leon Dore, Carhartt WIP, Bodega, and Extra Butter, to name a few. Now, New Balance rejoins forces with Stray Rats to offer their take on the 580 silhouettes. After being first teased over the summer, we now have an official look at both colorways in full detail.

Stray Rats has always shown a penchant for playful color-blocking when it comes to its sneaker interpretations. Let’s first break down the more fall-appropriate palette with warm burgundy tones that dominate most of the base. Hits of orange, yellow, and olive green complement the sneakers, while subtle pops of purple appear on the toe boxes and collars. For the sibling sneaker, bursts of purple, green, blue, and pink jump off the uppers and midsoles. Overlays are dyed in an olive-brownish hue while the underlays don a sleek steel gray. New Balance branding appears on the tongues and heels, while Stray Rats spell-outs are found in an oversized font on the insoles.
New Balance and Stray Rats have yet to announce an official launch date for the 580s. We expect the collection’s releases to be staggered in the coming weeks. While we wait, take a moment to peruse the official images in the gallery above.
