For the 990v6, New Balance has declared an official release date. It will be available for $200 USD on the New Balance website on November 4 at 10 AM EST in both men’s and women’s sizes. The 990v6 is the 990 series’ first new model since the 990v5, which was released in 2019 and was preceded by the 990v4 (2016), 990v3 (2012), 990v2 (1998), and the original 990. (1982). Action Bronson, Sydney McLaughlin, Trayvon Bromell, and other celebrities have joined the “Runners Aren’t Normal” campaign by New Balance in honor of the re-release.

The New Balance 990 has had several different aesthetics during the course of its 40-year history. We delved into the development of the classic style from the original to the future iteration last year. The shoe initially saw an upgrade in 1998, and the most recent one was the v5 in 2019. With the previously hinted-at “Grey” colorway soon to hit stores, New Balance appears to be officially introducing the new v6.

Running with the popularity of the trend, the v6 uses its big single unit to boost the appearance in several ways. In keeping with New Balance tradition, the shoe’s top pairs a mesh basis with high-quality hairy suede overlays and uses various tones of grey all throughout. The v6 is shown in red on the tongue, and there are many branding items strewn throughout. When we take a closer look at the sole unit, we can see that ABZORB cushioning combines with FuelCell and ENCAP technology at the base.
Expect the New Balance 990v6 “Grey” and its associated hues to go on sale for $195 USD in the upcoming months via New Balance and a select number of retailers while we wait for an official release announcement from New Balance.
