The protracted Elon Musk-Twitter feud might be coming to an end. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO revealed his $44 billion USD purchase of Twitter in a letter to advertisers that widely circulated on social media.

In his opening paragraph, Musk stated that “there has been discussion about why [he] purchased Twitter and what I believe about advertising. Most of it was inaccurate.

He wrote: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,”

Further addressing users’ concerns that the site “may divide into extreme right wing and far left wing echo chambers,” Musk said. He indicated that Twitter will use some sort of content filtering, in contrast to his former position that the site should permit all legitimate expression.

Along with abiding with the law, he defined his goal for Twitter as “warm and welcome to allow.”

He sent the letter in response to worries by advertisers that complete free expression on the site might lead to conflict over advertisements. Given that Musk serves as the CEO of Tesla, a recent story from The Wall Street Journal quoting persons familiar with the situation indicated that car marketers were particularly worried about potential conflicts.

Musk also changed his bio to read “Chief Twit,” establishing himself as Twitter’s supreme leader in addition to publishing the letter.

Twitter has not yet formally confirmed the takeover rumors involving Musk. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Lastly, for more tech news, The Fully-Loaded Starship Rocket is the Largest Spaceship Ever Built.
