New Balance had us in the palm of their hands in 2021 regarding footwear releases, and the one sneaker that constantly showed up on sneaker of the year lists was the 2002R “Protection Pack.” With its intitiative so well-received within the sneaker community, the brand continues to build on that in 2022. We’ve been told that six new colorways will hit the market, with two being the “Pink/Lavender” variant and the other in a predominantly purple palette.

The “Pink/Lavender” will probably be the most popular colorway. What people love about this New Balance model is the deconstructed nature of the shoe, as several parts of the shoe come off as “unfinished,” they also feature magenta hued overlays, with touches of smooth pink and lavender hues. Cream-colored laces give the shoe welcomed contrast, while the midsole comes in a stark white hue. You’ll find a toned down purple foam portion on the ear end, and NB finishes things off with a black outsole.
We’re also getting a purple colorway and although nice they don’t capture the attention as the previously mentioned model. They feature mesh underlays that come grey they also feature two neatly placed shades of purple that come together nicely with the raw cut overlays. Like its counterpart, this model also features off-white laces.
We don’t have an annouced release date for the new 2002Rs just yet, but they will likely release within the coming weeks with a retail price of $150 USD via the New Balance website.
