New Balance has been killing it all year long. What was once a memeable afterthought in the sneaker marketplace has risen to legitimate competitors for Nike’s throne. Expanding on their continuous efforts, New Balance formally introduces the sneaker of the summer with the 9060.

If this silhouette looks familiar, you’re not mistaken. Joe Freshgoods collaborated on two colorways of the 9060 with New Balance for his “Inside Voices” capsule a few months back. Most recently, the silhouette appeared in two more colorways in Mowalola’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show in Paris.
The 9060 offers a fresh take on a familiar look with a design inspired by the 990 series and New Balance’s history in performance running. The modern silhouette combines elements from the early 2000s 860 shoe and the 990 series technology. For the build, New Balance uses an extended “N” logo, a diamond-shaped outsole, and a heel split. Additional specs include a tongue badge and a thicker CR device. This initial colorway, dubbed “Sea Salt,” uses premium pig suede leather and mesh on the upper for an upscale look and feel.
Though the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 9060 released in May, the launch colorway will see a July 16th release. The New Balance 9060 “Sea Salt” will drop via New Balance’s website and select retailers for $150 USD. Additional colorways will arrive in the coming months, as well as the Mowalola collaboration.
