Concepts have seamlessly melded the worlds of street, skate, and fashion since the imprint first opened its doors in 1996. Their collaborative portfolio is rife with projects in conjunction with different sportswear and streetwear brands. Arguably none of those collaborations is more iconic than their work with Nike SB. In 2008, Concepts began one of the greatest sneaker sagas ever with the release of the Lobster Dunks. At long last, the fabled “Orange Lobster” Dunks may finally be arriving.
The Swoosh Gets Exotic with the Nike Dunk Low “Snakeskin”
Concepts’ work with Nike SB started with the highly coveted Lobster Dunks in red. One year later, they followed it up with the Blue Lobster in honor of the insanely rare crustacean pigment. Then came the infinitely rare Yellow Lobster Dunk. The trio of sneakers was revered in the skate and sneakerhead community, so much so that they revisited the project in 2018. By combining the original pigments of red and blue, as well as blue and yellow, we got the Lobster Dunks in purple and green. However, this sparked rumors of a third colorway combining red and yellow – the Orange Lobster Dunks. Those sneakers were never released, though recent rumors have suggested that might not be the case for long.
The Orange Lobster Dunks feature many of the saga’s signature design cues. This includes plaid interior lining, black midsole, and toe box straps similar to how lobster claws are secured. This SB Dunk Low features an orange upper made from a suede/nubuck material with white accents.
Rumor has it that a Black Friday release is in the works. Only Concepts or Nike can confirm whether this is fact or fiction, and it’s far too early to tell. Whatever the case may be, there’s definitely a reason to be excited. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any new information as it is made available.
