Coming hot off the collaborations with Aimé Leon Dore. We see New Balance leaning more towards the designs of Teddy Santis‘ as the sneaker world continues to push New Balance to the forefront. You can see the relationship with Teddy has grown and they respect his perspective and design language. This was made apparent when they brought him on as creative director in April of 2021. 365 days later we got a taste of his first Made in USA collection gradually became available. Today we take a quick look at the New Balance 990v2 Made In USA in the “Sea Salt” colorway.
If you saw the previously-launched New Balance 990v3 Made In USA “Sea Salt” colorway, this newest iteration focuses on brighter neutrals. Starting with mesh underlays and the smooth leather overlays touched with stark white finishes. We find contrast in the form gray placed neatly on the, toe box overlays and the heels. They place USA text in the oval-shaped heel windows while the traditional 990 branding finds its way to the tongue. In addition, we find cream accents placed on the tongues, laces and semi-chunky midsole units for those who appreciate the vintage look.
