We’ve all lived through the frustration of the SNKRS app at least once in our lives. Bots stealing highly-anticipated Dunks and Jordans plagues the platform on a daily basis, making it nearly impossible for the average person to secure their favorite sneakers. This week, Nike took a step in the right direction to level the playing field. The Swoosh announced a pivotal change to the SNKRS reservation system.

Formed in 2018, Nike instituted SNKRS Pass as a way for consumers to enjoy the convenience of shopping without the hassle of crowds and lines. Previously, SNKRS Pass utilized a first-come, first-serve strategy for consumers to reserve shoes. This strategy allowed pre-programmed “bots” to quickly buy out the most popular drops. Now, Nike will transition to a “draw-like” system that allows everyone a fair chance to secure sneakers. The new development will also integrate several bot-filtration tools to protect buyer integrity and experience authenticity. In a press release, Nike shared further details on the update:
“Our goal is to create experiences that are less stressful and more convenient, and we’re confident this new layer of bot-filtration, facilitated by the ‘Draw,’ will allow for more Members like you to reserve your most sought-after pairs.”
Nike will slowly roll out this new version of SNKRS Pass in the coming weeks. We recommend updating your SNKRS app to the latest version to ensure your chances at reaping the benefits of this new draw system.
