Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER Reworks the Nike Dunk High 1985

An all black look featuring paint-splattered midsoles.

UNDERCOVER and Nike’s partnership goes way back. They’ve collaborated on a multitude of sneakers, including an LDWaffle, Zoom Fly, and Daybreak to name a few. After an initial reveal during their Fall/Winter 2021 campaign, we finally have official images of the UNDERCOVER x Nike Dunk High 1985 “Black”.

NIGO, Jun Takahashi, and VERDY Link for New Last Orgy 2 Collection

Designer Jun Takahashi selects a mixture of different leather textures for the uppers of the sneaker. Quarters, toe boxes, and collars use premium tumbled leather while the overlays and Swooshes opt for a smoother fabric. Both materials are covered in a solid black hue. Oversized heel branding stands out in an uppercase white font. The left heel reads “CHAOS” and the right heel spells out “GLEICHGEWICHT,” the German word for “balance.” The heightened portion of the heel also features “NEUSE LEBEN” on the left foot and “NEUR LARM” on the right. This translates to “New Life” and New Noise.” Additionally, the tongue tags and insoles feature co-branded hits with the Swoosh and UNDERCOVER typeface logo. Lastly, Takahashi adds an extra bit of flair to the midsoles with a white paint splatter to complete the lifestyle kicks.

At the time of publishing, European retailer Goodhood is holding a raffle for the sneakers. Entrance into the drawing ends on February 28th, with each pair going for approximately $183 USD.
