It’s true it’s the odd ball smashed between two culturally iconic sneakers — the Air Max 95 and Air Max 97. But make no mistake the Nike‘s Air Max 96 II was a pivotal point in the transition of Nike Air Max technology, the spearheaded the late ’90s. Today we get a first look at the OG “Goldenrod” colorway set to release for the classic runner’s 25th anniversary. Outside of the “Mystic Teal” colorway, the “Goldenrod” colorway is truly one of the Air Max 96 II’s most iconic colorways. We saw a model released in 2016, for the 20th anniversary iteration and Nike named it the Air Max 96 XX, but it featured a completely different midsole. While this model is much closer to the original.
Nike Set to Release the Air Max PRM 95 “Grain” This Winter
They start things off with navy mesh upper serving as the base layer, with crisp white leather overlays featured throughout, most of which feature a tilted L shape. We find the color “Goldenrod” placed as a racing stripe that starts from the rear of the mudguard and it crosses over to the rubberized mid-foot Swoosh and comes to rest on the heel.
The Swoosh finish things off with welcomed “Goldenrod” Swooshes on the toe boxes and under the eyestays, you’ll also find Air Max hits featured on the tongues and heels. While reflective 3M material sits on the toe boxes, tongues and heels. This all sits atop a white EVA foam midsole with orange Air Max units and a two-tone outsoles to round of the look.
We don’t have an official release date for the Nike Air Max 96 “Goldenrod” but we will provide you all with more information when we learn more.
