There is something fitting about Sigourney Weaver suiting up for Star Wars. The actor who spent decades defining what it means to survive in hostile space now steps into a galaxy far, far away as Ward, a New Republic colonel and former Rebel pilot, seen in the final trailer sporting the iconic orange flight suit that fans of the original trilogy will recognize immediately. The casting carries its own internal logic. Few actors bring more earned authority to a sci-fi uniform than Weaver, and the trailer makes clear that The Mandalorian and Grogu intends to use her accordingly.

Disney debuted the final trailer at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, and it delivers what the earlier teasers withheld: a clearer sense of stakes, a fuller look at the ensemble, and confirmation of just how ambitious the transition from Disney+ to the theatrical screen is meant to feel. Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter who has spent three seasons building one of the most quietly affecting relationships in recent franchise storytelling with his Force-sensitive adopted son Grogu. The film picks up that thread and expands it into something built for IMAX, directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni.
The trailer also confirms the live-action debut of Embo, the fan-favorite bounty hunter from The Clone Wars, a detail that will mean a great deal to a specific and vocal segment of the audience. Jeremy Allen White provides the voice of Rotta the Hutt, and the supporting cast extends to include Benedict Wong and others whose roles remain carefully guarded. The score comes from Ludwig Göransson, whose work on the original series set a high bar that the theatrical setting will only raise.
The Mandalorian and Grogu opens exclusively in theaters and IMAX on May 22, 2026. For a franchise that has spent several years recalibrating its relationship with audiences, this is the film Disney is betting on to remind people what it feels like to watch Star Wars on a big screen.
