The traditional wristwatch is getting a striking and highly architectural makeover. Nazar Şigaher the brilliant Istanbul based designer and co founder of the multidisciplinary Daedalus studio has officially unveiled a stunning new design concept called the Fold Watch. Known for constantly exploring the delicate tension between simplicity and complexity Şigaher applied his signature design language directly to horology. He completely threw out the traditional rulebook and transformed the standard watch face into a three dimensional landscape.

Instead of relying on moving hands or printed numbers this innovative design utilizes a series of concentric stepped layers to indicate the passage of time. By building the actual reading system right into the physical structure of the dial Şigaher turns the simple act of checking the time into an engaging exploration of depth. Wearers must look at the specific boundaries and alignments of each distinct level to find their visual reference.

The entire piece is beautifully crafted in brushed metal to heavily emphasize both texture and depth. The dial itself resembles folded surfaces that catch ambient light differently as the day goes on. The designer deliberately chose an understated finish to highlight the incredible interplay of shadow cascading across the layered metal. The case and dial merge seamlessly together to reinforce the core architectural concept. The complete absence of conventional markers or decorative elements perfectly underscores the deeply minimalist ethos of the project. Currently the Fold Watch exists strictly as a conceptual prototype with no official production timeline or retail price confirmed.
