Cambridge-raised artist JayaHadADream is capping off a terrific summer of releases with a powerful new single, “Main Characters,” which features a standout guest verse from the multi-talented Big Zuu. The new track, out now, continues her run of impressive “shellers” and showcases her undeniable technical skill as an MC.

The song is built on a brusk, hard-hitting beat from the acclaimed producer Crafty893, which provides the perfect sparse canvas for Jaya to flex her lyrical prowess. As ever, her bars are on point, with her signature ability to continually switch up her flows, a quality that has cemented her reputation as one of the most technically gifted MCs in the UK’s new breed.

In a statement, Jaya explained the confident and confrontational themes behind the track. “Lyrically, it’s me flexing confidence, calling out false love, dodgy auras, and industry facades,” she said. “I talk about survival, womanhood, legacy, and staying sharp — even when the weight’s heavy.”

Adding another layer to the track is the guest feature from Big Zuu. While now a beloved TV personality, the collaboration is a potent reminder that Zuu is, at his core, a wicked MC. He brings a different energy that perfectly balances Jaya’s own, delivering what she describes as “bars full of grit and heart, speaking about struggle, loyalty and resilience.”

“Main Characters” is a masterclass in confidence and lyrical skill, a perfect pairing of two of the UK’s most exciting voices.
