The DC Studios co-head took to Threads to debunk online speculation, stating that only a handful of people have read the script for the Matt Reeves sequel.
James Gunn is once again setting the record straight. The DC Studios co-head has personally and publicly shut down the persistent online rumors that the character of Robin will be appearing in Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel, The Batman Part II.

As fan speculation about the Boy Wonder joining Robert Pattinson’s Batman spread across social media, Gunn took to the platform Threads on Friday to provide a definitive and unambiguous denial. He emphasized just how tightly held the film’s secrets are, urging fans to be wary of unverified information circulating online.
’Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about ‘the Batman 2.’
This is the second time in a week that Gunn has moved to quell fan theories about the film. In a previous Threads post on Monday, he made a similar point about the script’s secrecy, writing, “Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.”
While details on the film’s plot remain a closely guarded secret, Warner Bros. Discovery did provide an official update on its production timeline in a letter to shareholders on Thursday. The studio confirmed that production on The Batman Part II is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026, with a targeted theatrical release date in October of 2027.
The letter also touted the broader 10 year vision for the DC Universe under Gunn’s leadership, highlighting a slate of other upcoming projects. These include films like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2026), Clayface (2026), and a new Wonder Woman movie, as well as television projects such as The Penguin, a new season of Peacemaker, and the debut of Lanterns in 2026.
