Disney has released the first official trailer for James Cameron’s third “Avatar” film, now titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. Scheduled to hit theaters on December 19, 2025, the new installment introduces a fearsome, fire wielding Na’vi clan known as the Ash People.
The trailer reveals that the new tribe, led by Varang (Oona Chaplin), has allied with Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) to wage war on Pandora. Varang appears to have the ability to control fire, and her forces are shown burning down parts of the planet’s forests, posing a new and devastating threat to Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their allies. “Your goddess has no dominion here,” Varang ominously says at the end of the trailer.
Director James Cameron promised that the film will explore new parts of Pandora and features “very high emotional stakes, more than ever before.” He described the Ash People as more violent and power hungry than the clans seen in previous films.
The returning cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet, with Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, and Michelle Yeoh joining the franchise.
