Dubai-based architectural firm Znera Space unveiled a stunning concept design for a giant ring-like structure titled “Downtown Circle”. Standing 550 meters tall, the ring encircles the Burj Khalifa and seemingly hovers over Downtown Dubai.

The “Downtown Circle” emphasizes sustainability with the goal of creating “a hyper-efficient urban center that gives back to the environment”. Additionally, Znera Space says the structure will provide cleaner air to Dubai. Blueprints show how the ring divides into five self-sufficient units, each containing homes and public, commercial, and cultural spaces. The large extension of the circuit includes two main rings connected by a continuous green belt known as the Skypark. The Skypark allows space for visitors to enjoy waterfalls, tropical vegetation, sand dunes, swamps, and digital caves that also enrich the green ecosystem. For efficient travel, a fleet of suspended peripheral pods transport passengers throughout the Downtown circle. Further, designers believe the project will challenge traditional ideas of gated communities and tower residencies.
