It’s been an exciting 24 hours for Los Angeles-based artist Tanna Leone. First came a partnership with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free’s creative agency pgLang. Then Tanna dropped a new two-track single and music video. Finally, an announcement that the twenty-three-year-old creative signed with Def Jam Recordings.

Tanna’s partnership with pgLang was announced with a brief getting-to-know-you clip directed by Pepe. “When pgLang launched, I knew that’s where my home was,” he said in a statement. Tanna becomes just the second artist to partner with pgLang, following Baby Keem’s addition last summer.
“It’s an honor to join my brothers on this journey of shaping the future of media and entertainment. … As an artist I want to represent disrupting the status quo, push people to focus on their growth as a human, and to be a voice for the voiceless through my artistry.”
Additionally, Tanna shared “With the Villains” and “Lucky,” the former of which includes a Neal Farmer-directed music video. Farmer opts for a film noir sequence, using visual effects and lighting tricks to give off an eerie nighttime vibe. The cinematic visual moves from a block chase, to a VR strip show, to a tattoo parlor with a unique style.
Tanna’s partnership with pgLang also includes a deal with Def Jam Recordings. Chairman and CEO of Def Jam Tunji Balogun had this to say on the matter.
“We’re excited to welcome Tanna Leone and pgLang to the Def Jam family as valued partners. … Tanna is a dynamic and multi-talented new voice and we’re honored to be a part of his development and success.”
